Some may think that just picking up any sized baton means they are well on their way to baton twirling success. Not so fast! The size of the baton is extremely important for the baton student to succeed in their endeavors, whether it be competing or just learning the basics. When it comes down to picking out the correct baton, you really only need two things: a measuring tape and a someone to help you measure.
The best-sized baton for the twirler in your life depends on their arm span and height. In order to correctly measure, be sure that the baton twirler is standing straight and have their arms out, parallel to the floor. Then, take the tape measure from the base of their neck, right above their shoulder, and measure from there to the end of their middle finger. If the measurement happens to not be an even number, then round up. The high-quality batons found at Starline come in lengths of 14-32 inches, all going up by one-inch increments.
Perhaps you would like to purchase a baton as a gift and you are unable to acquire their measurements. You can make a guess, based on the gift receiver's age:
- Ages 1-4: 18 inches
- Ages 5-7: 20 inches
- Ages 8-10: 22 inches
- Ages 11-12: 24 inches
- Ages 13-14: 26 inches
- Ages 15& over: 28 inches
Please remember to keep all packaging for easy returns back to Starline Baton so that a proper-sized baton can be exchanged in case the gifted baton was too small or too big.
Once you find out the correct measurement for the baton twirler in question, browse the selection that Starline Baton has.
