Baton twirling has become an increasingly popular sport throughout the world, especially upon the formation of the World Baton Twirling Federation, otherwise known as WBTF. The WBTF was organized in London in 1977 by the leaders of a variety of baton twirling organizations in different countries all over the world. The purpose of the formation of the WBTF is to develop, encourage, and standardize the sport.
