The ABCs Of Twirling Batons

Learning the right lingo within the baton world will make you look like a real professional. You might be really good at twirling a baton, but if you don’t know how to name each of its parts properly you won’t look good in the eyes of your public. Twirling Batons are divided into three main parts: the tip or ferrule refers to the smaller end of the baton, the shift refers to the stick, and the ball or head refers to the larger rubber end of a twirling baton. Being able to differentiate the parts of your baton will make things much easier when learning how to twirl it. For instance, the correct way to hold your baton is pointing your thumb to the ball, which could be tricky when you don’t know where or what that is. Twirling batons are made in six lengths that may vary based on your age or preference: 22”, 26”, 28”, 30”, 32”, and 34”. Having Fun With Some New Twirling Tricks

If you are a pro performing some basic baton twirling techniques and are looking for some new, exciting, and fun tricks to surprise your friends and family, you are in the right place! Summer is always a good time to practice and dedicate extra time to your favorite hobbies or sports. Grab your baton, and get ready to twirl it like never before! Let’s start with the double leg roll. Holding your baton in your right hand, lift your leg as if you are walking in a military style with your thigh parallel to the ground. Bend your knee so your toe points to the ground. Place the back of your right hand firmly under your left leg, mid-thigh, and roll the baton over your leg, making sure it makes contact with your leg the entire time. As baton goes over top of your left leg and nears the vertical position, quickly switch legs so your right leg is raised in march position.
