You have put in hours and hours of practices and your big day is almost here: the baton twirling competition! As the competition draws close, having the appropriate items in the bag you take with you to the competition can really make all of the difference. Just one little thing missed can actually affect your score. So, Starline Baton has complied a list of must-have things that you need to have in your baton twirling competition bag to take with you.
Makeup: Of course you need your makeup, but don’t forget the little things associated with your makeup, like sponges, Q-tips, eye and lip liner sharpeners. As you lay out all your makeup, think about the tools each makeup piece could use to make applying (or fixing a mistake) easier. Hair Products: You need to grab hair ties, hair nets, bobby pins, gel, and a bristle brush (which is an absolute must to slick back all those fly aways). Be sure that if your costumes have any hair pieces, you grab those too. We suggest keeping all hair pieces with the costumes, so the complete outfit is together. Safety Pins: Every competitor should have a wide variety of sizes in safety pins. Imagine a strap breaking right before you walk on stage. You would be amazed how many people do NOT have a safety pin and how many times those little suckers are needed. Wipes: We recommend having baby wipes and also having a Tide to Go Pen. Of course, you should know that you are to NEVER eat or drink while in costume, but accidents happen. Be prepared for those accidents with wipes and the Tide pen for a quick clean up. Sustenance: The thing about any type of competition like this is that there is a lot of downtime. You will get hungry and thirsty. Be sure to pack HEALTHY snacks and drinks. Sometimes, in these types of competitions, there could be an unknown call to twirl more, and to be weighed down by greasy snacks and sugary drinks will affect your performance. We hope that we have offered you some suggestion on what to pack that you haven’t thought of. And no matter what your baton twirling capabilities are, novice, or competitive level, please contact Star Line for all of your baton-twirling needs and supplies. Of course you can order your gear online, or call us at (931) 528-7829 to learn more. For baton twirling tips, browse the Starline Blog.
