If you are a pro performing some basic baton twirling techniques and are looking for some new, exciting, and fun tricks to surprise your friends and family, you are in the right place! Summer is always a good time to practice and dedicate extra time to your favorite hobbies or sports. Grab your baton, and get ready to twirl it like never before! Let’s start with the double leg roll. Holding your baton in your right hand, lift your leg as if you are walking in a military style with your thigh parallel to the ground. Bend your knee so your toe points to the ground. Place the back of your right hand firmly under your left leg, mid-thigh, and roll the baton over your leg, making sure it makes contact with your leg the entire time. As baton goes over top of your left leg and nears the vertical position, quickly switch legs so your right leg is raised in march position. If you do it right, your baton should keep rolling over your right leg. To finish, reach your left hand under your right leg to catch your baton, and ta da! Another great technique you’ll enjoy learning is the palm spin. Before you start, it helps to have some good practice and experience in spinning the baton in your palm. Once you practice that for a bit, hold your baton in your right hand, grasping its center. Then do a horizontal full-hand rotation, allowing your palm to open as the orbit is completed. Don’t stop the baton--just keep spinning it! Without touching your baton hit the back of your right palm from underneath keeping your right arm steady. Your baton is now up in the air twirling nicely, and ready to be picked up by your left or right hand, whichever you prefer. Keep practicing! By the end of the summer you’ll master both techniques. But first, make sure you have all the necessary equipment to perform at your best. A high-quality baton will always make things easier! For high-quality baton gear, visit our online store today.
