The Importance of the Right Shoe

If you’re preparing for a dance performance of any sort, having the right shoes can make or break you. Think of wearing the wrong shoes like dancing on a hardwood floor with socks, or trying to glide on the carpet barefoot — it doesn’t work. When it comes to twirling, cheering, color guard, and drill, wearing the right shoes is crucial. With so much movement involved in these activities, you want to make sure your shoes are supportive. Non-slip shoes are a common requirement for many of the above activities. Non-slip allows you to complete, full movements without losing control of your landings. Most non-slip shoes have rubber soles, which provide the perfect balance of grip, and glide while moving across the dance floor. Not only will these shoes help with your performance, but they help reduce the chance of injury. You also have to consider the weight of your dance shoes. Too many leg kicks with heavy shoes can create a serious strain on your ankles. When it comes to sizing, look for a fit that is snug and hugs your foot, but is not too tight. Shoes that are too tight can cause blisters; those that are too loose can make you trip. With comfortable fitting shoes, you can better focus on your steps. You also want to base the color of your shoe on your outfit; match the color of your shoe with the color of your stockings. You want the focus of your audience to be on the movement of your feet, not the color on them. Starline Baton provides lightweight, flexible, durable, non-stick, non-slip, excellent toe point, washable shoes for all dance-related activities.
